Product Introduction:

Solubility: Miscible with water/ethanol/acetic acid glycerol pyridine, etc., slightly soluble in ether, insoluble in petroleum hydrocarbons and oils. It can dissolve inorganic substances such as calcium chloride/zinc chloride/sodium chloride/potassium carbonate/potassium chloride/potassium iodide/potassium hydroxide, etc.

Ethylene glycol is also easily oxidized. Depending on the oxidizing agent or reaction conditions used, it can produce various products, such as glycolaldehyde, glyoxal, glycolic acid, oxalic acid HOOCCOOH, as well as carbon dioxide and water.

Product Uses:

Mainly used in the production of polyester, polyester fibers, polyester resins, humectants, plasticizers, surfactants, synthetic fibers, and cosmetics.

It is also used as a solvent for dyes, inks, etc., in the formulation of engine antifreeze, as a gas dehydrating agent, in the manufacture of resins, and as a wetting agent for cellophane, fibers, leather, and adhesives.

It can be used to produce synthetic resin PET, fiber-grade PET (i.e., polyester fibers), and bottle-grade PET for making mineral water bottles. It can also be used to produce alkyd resins, glyoxal, etc., and serves as an antifreeze agent.

Ethylene glycol is a colorless, slightly viscous liquid with a boiling point of 197.4°C and a freezing point of -11.5°C. It can mix with water in any proportion. After mixing, the freezing point is significantly reduced due to changes in the vapor pressure of the coolant.
